Our Day Trip to Margan Wines

What a fabulous day (
Thursday 5/3/09).  We were invited for a day trip to Margan Wines, located at Broke in the Hunter Valley -
www.margan.com.au

Three staff (Mel, Sarah, Kate) and myself went for wine tasting, a tour of the winery and lunch.  It was sensational.

We tasted wine from tanks in the winery that the grapes had been picked within that last 2 - 4 weeks.  We were talk through the process of picking the grape to the juice ending up in the tank.

We were then treated to lunch at their restaurant (normally closed on Thursdays - so we were the only table eating).  A real treat.

The weather was great, the wine was spectacular and lunch was unbelievable.

To end the day - we stopped off and purchased some bottles of “Jungle Juice” from the Wollombi Pub.

An unlikely Legend!

Last week (Tuesday 24/2/09) I was presented with a Community Award by the Dee Why Warringah Rotary Club for our FREE Christmas Lunch.  A humbling and honourable experience.

I received the award and stated that “whilst I receive this award, I want to acknowledge the 14 people from community came and helped, this is their award too”.

Our Christmas Lunch raised much community interest and Christmas spirit.  My daughter (Kate) received text messages from her friends after I was on the front page of The Manly Daily.  One message said “your Dad’s a legend”.

Well as a result I named myself “the unlikely legend”.  Not in any way to put myself down, but rather to say I’m no different to anybody else - I think we are all “unlikely legends”.  I believe that we have far more talent and ability than we give ourselves credit.

Below is a picture of me being presented with the Community Award.
