Birthday Celebrations

At Sea la vie we love to celebrate the birthdays of our staff with a cake.  Yes, we sing Happy Birthday too (not that well, we aren’t good singers).

During May, we had two birthdays Danielle and Joana (both members of our floor staff team).

Danielle has been counting her birthday down, for a about 12 months, because she is now 18!!  Yes, 18 so this means many things but it also means that Danielle can now serve alcohol at the table of our guests.  She was well prepared and had already undertaken her RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol).

Happy Birthday girls!!

Whose birthday is next - we just love those cakes!!

My Search for the BEST Sauvignon Blanc (in NZ)

Adrian from Sea la vie here - that is a fantastic restaurant on Dee Why Beach (Sydney, Australia).

Last week I went to the South Island of New Zealand (19th to 23rd May 2008).  Primarily for one reason, being a seminar in Christchurch (which was great, I learnt heaps).  But in reality (ha ha), I went to Marlborough (a wine region in the north of the south island, there are a number of wine regions in NZ) searching for the finest Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand has to offer.

I knew there was a problem as soon as I arrived in NZ - sheep in the vineyards?

Whilst I’m a red wine (shiraz) lover, I have in my ageing years become partial (extremely) to a good Sauvignon Blanc.  I’ve had some good ones in recent years, both from Australia and New Zealand.

But this search was unearthing New Zealand’s finest.  Search and unearth I did and I had fun undertaking my self appointed 007 assignment.

I have made three (3) recommendations as being some of the finest, you taste and decide.  This way everyone’s a winner.

 * Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc,
* Foxes Island Sauvignon Blanc
(this is actually on our wine list), and,
 * Hunter’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

I’ve shipped two cases of wine home to Sydney - I can’t wait.  When they arrive, I’ll get to relive my adventures again, oh, how sweet it will be.

Over and out - you decide, you won’t be disappointed.
