Adrian from Sea la vie here - that is a fantastic restaurant on Dee Why Beach (Sydney, Australia).
Last week I went to the South Island of New Zealand (19th to 23rd May 2008). Primarily for one reason, being a seminar in Christchurch (which was great, I learnt heaps). But in reality (ha ha), I went to Marlborough (a wine region in the north of the south island, there are a number of wine regions in NZ) searching for the finest Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand has to offer.

I knew there was a problem as soon as I arrived in NZ - sheep in the vineyards?
Whilst I’m a red wine (shiraz) lover, I have in my ageing years become partial (extremely) to a good Sauvignon Blanc. I’ve had some good ones in recent years, both from Australia and New Zealand.
But this search was unearthing New Zealand’s finest. Search and unearth I did and I had fun undertaking my self appointed 007 assignment.
I have made three (3) recommendations as being some of the finest, you taste and decide. This way everyone’s a winner.

* Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc,
* Foxes Island Sauvignon Blanc (this is actually on our wine list), and,
* Hunter’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
I’ve shipped two cases of wine home to Sydney - I can’t wait. When they arrive, I’ll get to relive my adventures again, oh, how sweet it will be.
Over and out - you decide, you won’t be disappointed.
